Congratulations to our class of 2019 apprentices who have this month completed their 4-year HNC level 4 course in Mechanical Engineering in conjunction with learning provider Keighley College.

Modules completed include Mechanical Principles, H&S, and Materials to name a few.

Ben Bott and Suraj Mistry, both joined Produmax post GCSE knowing they wanted to be Engineers from the outset, whereas Max Weatherhead previously worked in an engineering recruitment role that would lure him down the Engineering pathway.

What’s clear is that whatever pathway they took as individuals, they came together and worked as a great team to transition into top quality engineers!

Ben’s favourite piece of training is the hands-on bit saying, “I really like being in the workshop area learning about the milling and turning machines, its good to get the basics sorted.  My next challenge is to learn more about operating CAD/CAM systems.”

Max said, “the best bit of the course for me was planning, managing, and implementing various college projects which I really enjoy, especially when ideas make a positive impact in the workplace.  It gives me a real buzz knowing I’ve been part of a team that made a difference, and the apprenticeship has totally transformed my career.”

Suraj is planning to study at Degree level in the future and said “my favourite thing about the course was the practical elements and the biggest thing I’ve learnt is time management skills, having to manage college work alongside work responsibilities has been key to success.  I’ve enjoyed the apprenticeship and would like to learn more about mechanical combined with aerospace engineering next.”
