Understanding Winbro’s transformation journey as part of SiG

Wednesday 21st September saw the 5th Sharing in Growth STAR day, this time held at Winbro Group Technologies Coalville and Shepshed sites.

As well as a shopfloor tour of their machine assembly and part manufacturing facilities, Mandy Ridyard and Lee Moffat had the opportunity to understand the transformation journey the Winbro purchasing team is on.

Bob Holt, Winbro purchasing manager and his team explained their transition from transactional to strategic purchasing and some of the wins this approach has delivered to the business. At their last STAR day, the group identified they shared a common problem with the effectiveness of their Material Review Board processes.  A group facilitated session was run in the afternoon to understand the areas of better practice in each beneficiary’s process and opportunities for improvement.  At the end of this event the group decided their next STAR day will focus on People and HR.

Mandy Ridyard commented about her day: “I always learn something new when I visit other businesses but it is truly inspiring to see some of the ideas put into action at other beneficiaries of the SiG programme.”

The 6th Star Day will take place on 15th March and be hosted at Produmax HQ in Baildon Business Park.
